People talk about classic games like Ultima Online, Asheron's Call, EverQuest, DaoC and so on... and yet, Tibia, which is still active 18 years later with at least 15,000-20,000 players online and a huge active open-server community, along with over 1000+ viewers on twitch regularly (sometimes hitting 2000 views), is almost never mentioned in any MMORPG discussions. Why?
I understand that it's an "obscure" MMORPG, but I'd argue that it's not THAT obscure considering the popularity of the game and the fact that it's not a Japanese/Korean game. Heck, the game has been online and updated for almost two decades now. Two!
So yeah... what explains the "loneliness" of the game?
Why is Tibia never mentioned in any MMORPG discussions?

Lack of advertising. Although, I saw a reddit post of Cipsoft being displayed on a bus...however, I've never seen any ads here in America.
