growth cannot be endless but has to adhere to a cycle, as do all living things. Enlightenment shall bloom in full, then strike a balance.

- Dhar-Enpa Rahng -

Describing the monk's path is a challenging task. It is somewhat akin to explaining the sensations of love or fear to someone who has never experienced them. How can they grasp what they have not felt? This is true for the way of the monk as well; to truly comprehend it, one must experience it firsthand.

Despite the challenges, we strive to offer a glimpse into the enigmatic realm of this new vocation.

Let us begin by exploring some of their history.

For centuries, the monks of the Merudri lived in the Blue Valley, nestled high in the misty mountains of a secluded island. Their lives, marked by hardship and struggle, were devoted to seeking higher wisdom and enlightenment. A dedicated mentor, called Enpa, trained generations to preserve their culture and protect their own as well as the realm of Tibia. However, the population decreased during a perpetual war against ancient invaders, culminating in the closing of a rift between their worlds. In the process, the respective Enpa, Gaan, achieved a powerful but dangerous state of enlightenment, Sempi-Enpa, sacrificing himself to expel the invaders but fracturing his soul.

This victory was achieved at a great cost. To replenish their numbers, the monks of the dwindling Merudri community started to recruit outsiders from Dawnport. As the recruits advanced in their training, they gained access to more areas within the Blue Valley. Furthermore, selected individuals have travelled incognito across Tibia, taking on the Three-Fold Path to study the outside world. These pilgrims rarely fought or settled outside the valley, focusing on learning and documenting. They erected hidden shrines worldwide, which every initiate is required to visit once in their lifetime. The journey involves hardships and trials, with seekers travelling in disguise and forbidden from stealing or unprovoked killing. It serves as both an initiation and an enduring guidepost.

Rooted in a fateful past, a mighty doctrine has developed. Centred around the significant role of the number three, it is crucial in shaping the monks' customs, skills, and culture. It represents the elements of serenity or totality: harmony, enlightenment, and power. These elements are symbolised by a triangle with a central circle, indicating completeness and serenity. The number also defines the already mentioned Three-Fold Path. Along the path, each shrine represents these three elements, which monks reflect upon and chant personal mantras for, focusing their unique powers.

As you can easily recognise, monks are unlike any other known vocation. Their extensive mental training has led some to achieve even such profound levels of serenity that they have transcended physical existence entirely. Needless to say, they have also developed formidable spells and combat skills.

In simple terms: It is extremely challenging to make a stoic monk lose their temper. Yet, when action is required, the monk can turn into a powerful martial artist whose skills can be of extraordinary use.

Naturally, this article only begins to explore the captivating story of the monk. Our upcoming Insight series will provide even more background information in the weeks ahead, but to truly understand the depths, you will need to experience playing the mystical figure yourself.

May each of you flourish as you journey down your unique paths.

Tibians! Three new game worlds are about to be launched!

Next week, on Wednesday, February 19, we plan to set up three new Open PvP game worlds:
Noctalia (EU), Ignitera (NA), Xybra (SA)
These worlds will be protected by BattlEye and will be blocked for character world transfers for a significant amount of time. Please note, though, that depending on how their populations evolve, it may still be possible that these worlds will be opened for transfers or even be merged with other worlds at some point of time.

Initially, only Premium accounts will be able to play on Noctalia, Ignitera, and Xybra.
